Arnolfini is Bristol’s International Centre for Contemporary Arts located on the harbourside in the heart of the city.

It has exhibitions, a bar with food, an excellent bookshop, and a view of the dock.

Bristol Airport is easily accessible from Sydney Row.  The A1 airport bus service, in normal times, runs from a bus stop 2 minutes away from the house.  Buses also run to Temple Meads and if you prefer a slower means of travel, the Bristol Ferry company serves Temple Meads at peak times.

Watershed is one of the most culturally upbeat and lively venues in the UK.

Mark Kermode, Journalist/Film Critic

This was the Watershed in

1980! Spot the differences!

Watershed champions engagement, imagination and ingenuity, working locally, nationally and globally from our home in Bristol, UK.

Our home has three cinemas, the Pervasive Media Studio and the Café & Bar.

THE RIVERSTATION

"Menus in the restaurant are created from the best local and seasonal ingredients by our Head Chef Anthony Smith. Everything is made in-house, from the sourdough bread to the ice cream. The food is complemented by a thoughtfully compiled wine list of over sixty wines, with more than 14 available by the glass including Cottonworth English sparkling and Perrier Jouet Champagne."

Feeling less upmarket?  Also a bar with excellent food and a river terrace.  JJ

CENTRAL LIBRARY

This is one of my personal favourites. I could walk out of the house, take the ferry across the dock (it's a shuttle service) and with about 5 minutes walk on the other side, I could be at this amazing library.  As well as a book section, there's music, sheet and recorded, audio books, DVDs and a treasure trove of local history.  It even has a small cafe. Libraries have always meant a lot to me, and I will miss this one.

The ferry, of course, also makes a good short cut to the Watershed (when late for films) and Park Street.  The number 8 bus goes to Cl;ifton Village, if you feel lazy.

MARK's BAKERY & CAFE

This has become a Southville institution.  A lunch or brunch stop, tea and cakes in the afternoon.  Delicious bread and only a 10 minute walk from Sydney Row over the footbridge,

THE COTTAGE PUB

Allegedly once owned by Bristol coiuncil,

one of the mopst popular pubs in the Bristol Summertime, now under Butcombe's brewery and none the worse for that.  Other drinks also available!
